Dr. Margaret Mei-Hua Chen is a full-time Research Fellow at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) and holds an Ed.D. from Appalachian State University. Dr. Chen has served in several leadership roles, including President and Vice President at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, as well as Dean of the Academic Affairs Office and the Research and Development Office. Additionally, she has been instrumental in advancing language education, founding and directing the Language Diagnostic & Consulting Center (LDCC). Her research interests focus on learning motivation, learning strategies, curriculum design, and language education policy.

Wen Ma

Wen Ma is a professor of education at Le Moyne College, and he received his Ph.D. in English Education from SUNY Buffalo. As a literacy educator, Dr. Ma’s research interests include using participatory dialogue as an instructional tool, teaching strategies for ELA and content areas, Eastern and Western learning cultures, and teacher education. He is currently serving as a US State Department-funded English Language Fellow to support the EMI Initiative at NSYSU.

Elayna Ah Puck

Elayna Ah Puck 歐伊蘭, BA Sociology and MA TESOL, is a Hawai’i, USA native and an Fulbright EMI Advisor to National Sun Yat-Sen University (2023-25) and National Central University (2022-23). She brings English teaching experience from 7 different countries (USA, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Egypt, Taiwan) and has taught a diverse range of ages and learners in various educational contexts. She also has experience teaching graduate-level second language pedagogy, and is particularly interested in assisting both teachers and students with the tools needed for effective teaching and learning in EMI. Adjacent to EMI, Elayna has also been supporting the development of bilingual education in Taiwan at the K-9 level through hosting nation-wide teacher training workshops for various English-teaching programs.Elayna EMI Bio (2024-25)

Erik Wennermark is an experienced educator with over 15 years of expertise in teaching composition, rhetoric, literature, and language across Asia, Europe, and the United States. With an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alabama, a BA in Literature from New York University, and a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, he is dedicated to fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments. His goal is to empower teachers with effective strategies for delivering engaging, high-quality lessons in English, promoting student-centered learning, and fostering professional growth.
