Objective: These guidelines are formulated to enhance the English-language proficiency and professional competitiveness of students of the University, and to encourage students to take English Medium Instruction (EMI) courses to foster their professional and academic development.
Eligibility: Domestic students and overseas Chinese students registered in the bachelor's and master's programs who are non-native speakers of English (Students in in-service master's programs and doctoral programs are excluded).
Application Period: September 1 to September 30, 2027 (These guidelines take effect in Academic Year 2026–27. Only EMI courses taken from Academic Year 2026–27 onward will count toward the award. Eligible students may apply in Academic Year 2027–28.)

Award Conditions and Criteria:
- Definition of EMI courses: Semester courses offered by the University using English as the primary medium of instruction to teach academic and professional subject matter; language courses (such as Japanese, Russian, General English, and inter-college EAP/ESP courses) are excluded.
- In each semester of the academic year for which a student applies for the award, the EMI credits taken by each student must account for at least 30% of the total credits taken in that semester, with a minimum of six EMI credits. Bachelor's program students whose semester grade point average reaches B or above, and master's program students whose semester grade point average reaches A- or above, shall each receive a monetary award of NT$2,500.
- The award quota shall be subject to the announcement for the current academic year.

- Complete the online application form for the reward for taking EMI courses.
- Attach electronic copies of the official transcripts for the first and second semesters of the academic year of application.
- Attach an electronic copy of the cover page of the bankbook for the remittance account.
- The award quota and application requirements shall be subject to the announcements by the University's Office of Program on Bilingual Education for Students in College (BEST Program Office).
- Remittance shall be processed within three months after the application is approved, and no further notice shall be given.
Review and Funding Sources:
- The review process of this award shall be handled by the University's Office of BEST Program.
- The funding for this award shall be sourced from the Ministry of Education's BEST Program or other relevant MOE funds. The University may adjust the actual award quota and amount in accordance with the implementation effectiveness of the award and budget for the current academic year.
Supplementary Provisions
- These pilot guidelines shall be implemented from the Academic Year 2026 to the Academic Year 2028.
- Matters not covered in these guidelines shall be handled in accordance with the University's other relevant regulations.
- These guidelines are approved by the Executive Meeting and the President before implementation. Amendments to these guidelines shall follow the same procedure.
